Rwanda Knits is an amazing organization dedicated to assisting women develop successful, independent knitting businesses.   To do so, the organization employs 6 women as knitting instructors who travel the country teaching women like them how to use the knitting machines and sell their products.

After instruction on using the machinery and making products, the women also receive information about best practices in business, marketing, & legal information.

Rwanda Knits has been funded through grants via the USAID (United States Agency for International Development).  Today nearly 1,000 women are a part of 29 knitting cooperatives across Rwanda.  The organization hopes to be  completely self-sustainable by 2012.   To help Rwanda Knits reach their goal, click HERE to donate.   Also, be sure to check in regularly with their website, for information about opportunities to purchase knit products made by a member of their organization.  Below are just a few photos of Rwanda Knit products!
